“This boutique country house strikes a lovely balance, situated near both Christchurch and Bournemouth, yet maintaining its rural charm. I'm particularly drawn to the focus on fine wines, with its Enomatic machine and cellar selection, complementing the restaurant's seasonal menus. It seems a very welcoming spot, indeed, especially with its dog-friendly rooms and dedication to private events.”

Acceptable but Disappointing Service
poor service unhelpful staff
The room was clean enough and I had no real issues with that.
The staff seemed disinterested and unhelpful. I needed to ask for tea and milk. I also had to find someone to ask, yet still did not receive everything I requested. This poor service greatly affected my overall stay and was quite annoying.

chic area relaxed area cheerful decor smart decor
The communal areas impressed me. They were chic and relaxed. i appreciated that there were specific areas for socializing with friends. i also found quiet spaces available such as the library for reading. the decor throughout the hotel was cheerful and smart.
some areas of the bedroom required a little redecoration , and the shower needed to be cleaner.

underwhelming stay , issues with service
slow check-in burned breakfast
the pub itself looked nice , decorated with charming bear touches.
check-in was slow , taking about 15 minutes. the staff seemed rude , like they didn't care. breakfast took forever , and when it finally arrived , my mushroom , bacon , and toast were burnt. the mattress was uneven and felt broken in spots , at all.
the staff was friendly and efficient. my room had air conditioning and a fan, a nice touch. i liked the complimentary gin and tonic voucher (it made me smile!). the breakfast included fresh ingredients.
the mattress felt a bit uneven in places, but i didn't bring it up .
Service

Good Stay in Burton
lovely bedrooms varied buffet hot options fresh milk
The bedrooms are lovely, showcasing lots of charm after a refit. The food and wine list presented a carefully chosen selection. The breakfast was great, offering a varied buffet alongside hot options cooked to order. I particularly appreciated the fresh milk provided in the room.
Some areas of the bedroom could benefit from a little redecoration, and the shower cleanliness could be improved slightly.
Facilities
9/10
Parking availability was a plus, though the car park surface shows some wear (a minor point really). The decor was quite nice, with air conditioning and a fan available in the room.
Dining
9/10
Breakfast options included a continental spread along with very good cooked options. Coffee pods and chocolates were available in the room. Dinner choices were excellent, with a good range and tasty preparation. The drinks selection was good too.
Rooms
9/10
The room felt spacious and luxurious, incorporating an attractive blend of traditional wooden furniture with modern facilities. Nice touches included bright bedside reading lights and a full-length free-standing mirror. The bathroom featured an excellent shower and quality products.
